Finally! Fresh fish are pushing up the Williamson River and that's great news for those looking to fish the Klamath Basin! Normally this happens earlier in the year, but with all the water that's in the lake the fish haven't had to search out the cooler water of the rivers and springs.
This migration happens every year, but during low water years it happens way sooner. Most of the time mid June. This year it's starting to happen now! What's that mean? The best is yet to come! If you have fished the Williamson, Wood, or Lake, this year and have a hard time of it, give it another chance! If you have been holding back, now is the time to jump!
If you come to Fish the Basin be sure to bring a wide variety of bugs and a sinking line. As the summer sun warms the fish will hold deep next to the weed beds. If you like fishing riffles swing them early mornings and late evenings when the sun is off the water.
The Williamson River is the place where you can catch the biggest trout of your life and the time is now.
